Miriam Schmitter joins Commonfund

Commonfund has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Commonfund Capital, has appointed Miriam E. Schmitter as director, focusing on research and investments in private equity, venture capital, and natural resources. Schmitter will be based in the organisation’s London investment office. She will concentrate her efforts on current and prospective private capital managers within Europe and Africa and contribute to Commonfund Capital’s investment teams focusing on other global private capital markets including Asia. Schmitter will report to MD, Mark C. Hoeing.

Prior to joining Commonfund, Schmitter was MD, Head of International Private Equity Research for the investment consulting firm Cambridge Associates in London. She started with Cambridge in Boston in 2005. At Cambridge she was responsible for due diligence and research published by the firm on private equity funds which resulted in significant client commitments to private capital strategies. She also supervised due diligence on investment opportunities and oversaw consultants and associates in the Boston, London and Singapore offices. Schmitter holds a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany (Dr. rer. pol.) and a Diplom-Kauffrau (MBA equivalent) from University of Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany.
